2025 Southern California Wildfires

The Los Angeles area is grappling with a series of three major fires: the Palisades Fire to the west of Los Angeles, the Eaton Fire to the north of Pasadena, and the Hurst Fire in the San Fernando Valley.

As of January 16th, these fires have become the most destructive in LA history, with 27 confirmed deaths, over 12,00 structures burned, 82,400 residents under evacuation orders and an additional 90,400 residents under evacuation warnings. While the Hurst fire is now 98% contained, the Eaton fire is only 55% contained and the Palisades fire sits at only 22%.

The fires are being fueled by stronger-than-normal Santa Ana winds and exceptionally dry weather this year. Aid to those impacted by the fires will include a focus on sheltering displaced families, delivering medical aid, supporting animal rescue efforts, and supporting first responders as they work to contain these fires.

Donors should be advised that while we focus on immediate needs of the communities impacted, the full extent of damage and the impact it has on people’s lives will not be known for weeks to come. Recovery efforts will take a long time, and flexible funding will be needed throughout.
