Program Associate

Job Specifications:

Position Status: Exempt

This position is full-time and requires a minimum of two days per week onsite for those residing in the Bay Area.

Position Purpose:

The Program Associate supports the objectives of the Marin 24x7 Team by providing program support in partnership with the Senior Program Director to implement grantmaking strategies, organize programmatic and community convenings, and oversee team projects. Additionally, they will contribute to the development and implementation of new program initiatives that align with the strategic priorities of the Foundation.

Reports to:

The Program Associate reports to the Senior Program Director, Community Power Initiative.

Essential Functions:

Support and contribute to the Community Power Initiative strategy development, learning, and evaluation.

  • Represent the Foundation and communicate the program’s strategy and grantmaking guidelines to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare presentations and reports.
  • Assess current research, policy changes, and trends in a range of areas of focus and in philanthropy by reviewing news and professional publications and by attending related conferences, meetings, and other events.
  • Develop capacity building program offerings including cohort-based programs.

Provide grantmaking support.

  • Serve as an initial point of contact for organizations inquiring about funding opportunities.
  • Conduct research to inform the due diligence process and grantmaking decisions.
  • Attend convenings, site visits, and other external events.
  • Assist with additional grantmaking duties in support of the Marin 24/7 Division as needed.

Provide project management.

  • Develop and implement project plans and timelines for strategy development, learning, and evaluation activities.
  • Draft and finalize materials, including grant summaries, memos, spreadsheets, presentations, and other documents in concert with senior program director
  • Lead planning and logistics for complex projects and multi-stakeholder meetings with the support of the senior program director and program coordinator.
  • Fulfill administrative duties related to their assigned projects.

Foundation-wide Responsibilities.

  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and dynamic organizational culture.
  • Participate in Foundation-wide activities, such as committees, internal culture-building, training, and strategic planning.
  • Coordinate all-staff volunteer opportunities
  • Perform additional responsibilities as delegated.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in non-profit work
  • B.S/B.A degree required in a related field or equivalent years of proven success in a similar role.
  • An ability to plan, prioritize, and anticipate workflows, manage competing timelines, and coordinate across team members and projects to meet deadlines.
  • Solution-oriented and comfortable taking initiative and asking questions.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with databases, preferably Salesforce, highly desired.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Flexible and willing to assist others, when needed.
  • A sense of teamwork, community, humor, and integrity
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Compensation & Benefits:

The Program Associate role is a full-time, exempt position with full health benefits (including medical, vision and dental), 403(b) retirement plan with an employer contribution of 12%, life and disability insurance, and generous time off and other benefits. The target salary for this position is $86,000.
